Black Family Meeting: We’ve Got the Rights, We’ve Got the Power!
Our state constitution guarantees that all children will receive a sound basic education, but what happens when all children are not treated equally? In 2022, North Carolina schools removed Black children from school through short-term suspensions twice as often as other students. Navigating challenges that your child may be facing at school, especially if those challenges lead to removal from school, can be confusing and overwhelming. At this Black Family Meeting, learn about the rights you and your child have in school and discuss proactive strategies you can use to make sure school is a safe and positive environment for your child.
